Accordingly Mindanao
State University (MSU) was established on September 1, 1961 through RA 1387, as
amended, was the brain child of the late Senator Domocao A. Alonto, as one of
the government’s responses to the so-called “Mindanao Problem”. Today, MSU has
various units in areas which cut across the Mindanao regions. From a one campus
university in Marawi City. MSU has grown to a multi-campus university of eight
autonomous campuses, which include: MSU-Main in Marawi City, MSU-IIT in Iligan
City, MSU-TCTO in Tawi-Tawi, MSU-Naawan in Misamis Oriental, MSU-Maguindanao,
MSU-General Santos, MSU-Sulu in Jolo and MSU Buug in Zamboanga Sibugay.[4]
The Mindanao State University also known
as the “melting pot of the south” celebrates its 55th foundation day
with the theme “In partnership with the National Government in Pursuing Reforms
towards Peace and Poverty Alleviation”. The parade started at 7:00 A.M. A long
long parade because MSU is composed of 17 colleges. Festive is the best thing to
describe MSU in that time. Every college prepares different yells even though
we are very exposed in the sunlight but it is all worth it because we really
enjoy it. The hosts welcome every college and they introduces it by naming its
future career. Imagine how old Mindanao State University is? I am very proud to
be part of MSU to be an Msuan, because it is not easy. You are Msuan if you
will survive not just for the safety aspects but all the aspects. Because of
hotness the people are thirsty and hungry so they visited the trade bazaar in
the peace plaza and buy foods and the others are taking photos.
The
celebration in the morning was successful and in the afternoon there will be a
discussion about Federalism in the Dimaporo Gymnasium.
